Deep down inside, we’re all just gluttons for punishment. We do petty things each day with acquaintances or friends or even enemies that make us wonder why we ever left the comfort of our warm, snuggly beds. We lie. We tell the truth. We give our opinion; throw a choice comment in a choice direction. Every once in a while we do something really despicable like cheat on our significant other with their best friend or throw a punch because we’re just so sick of hearing shit. Yet every morning we get up and venture out into the world, knowing that chances are something bad is going to happen. The insignificant promise that there’s a light at the end of this tunnel is what lures us out.
We all have that one goal that if we reach it, we’d forget all the crap going on around us. Or at least, that’s what we tell ourselves. That goal is the light at the end of the tunnel. For some, it may be to become a varsity sports star. For others, it may be as simple as plucking up the courage to ask your crush of three months now out for coffee or paying the rent on time.
Then you have the people who already have it all, whose only goals in life seem to be to make others miserable or to get the latest styles from Fashion Week before they hit stores. Believe it or not, they can fall off of their high horses… or rather, they can be knocked off. And those whose life seems to be nothing but bad luck can be turned around, flipped until they’re as run-of-the-mill as everyone else’s. All it takes is a decision followed through with an action, sprinkled with maybe just a touch of luck.
Because guess what, darling? Every major decision causes collateral damage.
Welcome to Crestwood Heights. It’s just your average little city, with your average little suburb (Bay Valley) filled with your average little batch of people. But the Heights aren’t really all that important. Neither is the Valley. Their residents are. They all live average lives, some better off than others, some a little more reckless than others, but all a little… chancier than your average city’s population. They all make wild decisions without really seeming to think them all the way through, which makes for one hell of an interesting place to live. People unaware of the careful balance the universe has in place, of how their decisions are going to affect people other than themselves, well, that’s just one looped up city.
